Last week was a busy one, Monday was labor day we picked our first watermelon from the garden and it really didn't have much flavor so we were just going to toss it and then we had a better idea;

The boys thought it was delicious! Now I cant cut a watermelon in the kitchen without them underfoot!

We also spent alot of time looking at furniture, we were thinking that we wanted a new bedroom set but we decided that we would wait until just a little longer to make the big purchase.

Wednesday was Haileys first soccer game they won 2-1. There was one girl that scored both goals, she is a friend of ours cousin so that was pretty cool, it would have been cooler if it was Hailey but maybe next game.

This weekend we are headed to the fair!

We are still living the vegetarian/vegan lifestyle; we are only eating 1 serving of a meal and eating leftovers, we use to cook a new meal everyday and then have a CORN (clean out the refrigerator night) every week, well financially that wasn't really working out, and after eating raw for 10 days and only having salads, eating leftovers are not so bad. So now we are cooking 2-3 meals a week and still having a corn buffet one day. Here is our menu for next week,

breakfast is always a smoothie sometimes with a muffin and lunch is always raw (a salad or sliced veggies and hummus) Hailey eats at school, snacks are fruit and nut mix, Lara bars, and fresh fruits and veggies;

8/5 grilled steaks, (ok so this isnt vegetarian AT ALL, but its a holiday) grilled zucchini, and macaroni salad
8/6 Veggie Chimichangas, green salad and fruit
8/7 Spinach pasta, Texas toast, salad
8/8 Grilled fish (rainbow trout free from our friends fishing trip) zucchini, fruit
8/9 veggie chimichangas mixed fruit
8/10 spinach pasta, fruit, and zucchini
8/11 CORN buffet

Long busy days

Hailey made the soccer team! She was so excited but it will make for a very busy month and a half. She has practice everyday from 3-5 and on Friday practice at 6AM, which means she has to be up at 430am! and then 2 games a week on top of all that, she has had homework everyday (which was no surprise to us) by the time she is done with that, her shower and dinner it is already about 8pm, sometimes even later. Last year her bed time was 930, but this year we moved it to 9 just until she gets into a groove. Tonight though I think we will have her go @8 depending on what her Utah Studies homework looks like.

Liz is a whole 'nother type of busy... She too gets up at 430am and is out the door by 5am (she gets ready really fast) by the time she works, and goes to the gym she gets home at about 720pm!

So pretty much its just me and the boys all day, when every one gets home it is a mad rush of how was your day? what did you do?we have to squeeze everything in by 10 when the house shuts down... We all cant wait for the weekends, when we can try to sleep in, and spend some time together!

Me and this blog are enemies, I dont know why I really do enjoy writting here but for whatever reason I always take unexpected breaks and never this one was really long. Things are getting back on track around here post vacation. All the vacation laundry is done and the house is pretty much all cleaned up.

Hailey started school last week and in "worst mom of the year" fashion, I didnt take her picture. She is trying out for soccer tryouts started last week and the final decision was made last Friday, however there were 5 girls that the coach wanted and only 2 spots left and of coarse Hailey was on that list. So she has a few more days of tryouts and will hopefully get the final word soon. She also is now in the gifted and talented program for English and Social Studies along with honors pre-algebra. If she makes the soccer team it look like we are going to have a very busy school year.

Really are you kidding me this summer is already almost over? Where did it go? the last time I sat down and blogged was July 19 since then lots has happened, we made it back to the Tea Rose Diner on the 21st on the way to the days of '47 Rodeowe had awesome seat that we bought off of Groupon for 4.00 each! It was a fun Thursday night date.

Saturday the 23 Liz took the day to head out to a Beast Seminar at Pure Workout she was out all day learning new moves, she now can flip a 350# tractor tire! The 23 was also our 7 year anniversary Liz got me a beautiful bouquet of red roses and I totally forgot to take a picture, The weather has been so hot here that they are already hanging to dry, I got her a 5 year line a day Q&A book I got one for myself too, we have been filling it out in the evenings, I think it will be something nice too look back on in 5, 10, 15 years from now. We went out for sushi which was delicious! Then took a walk at a local park, we ended the night watching movies at home, it was a really nice night! (we are headed to San Fransisco for our BIG anniversary get away, more on that later)
The 29th was my 30th birthday! I have been ChaCha'ing since March trying to save up to take a trip to the Zermett Resort in Midway, then the week before we were set to go I found out that they had changed there chef and no longer did the all you can eat seafood buffet, so the trip that I had been planning for 4 months now was cancelled. We decided to check out the Melting pot and I am so glad that we did we had such a good time the whole experience of fondue is just FUN! If you have never been, save your pennies and on the next big day go there! After that we headed to the Gateway to watch Crazy.Stupid.Love which was really funny! We are meeting up with the family this weekend to go bowling in crazy socks!

Saturday we headed out to Park City to hang out at the outlets, we did some shopping not anything crazy, we went to Fossil and got new watches!

Sunday the 31st Liz had to bid for new work, her new shift is going to bring alot of new scheduling, starting with getting up at 430am instead of 520! But she is now on a 4 day work week and has Wednesday off! Now one would think "oh day off mid week" no not here, here we think, "ohhh day off you can work and get OT" so we will see what happens with that, if all goes has planned (does it ever) we could possibly be debt free by December, if not completely, we will be really really close.

So thats where we have been!

We had a great weekend! Friday was my Great Grandma's Birthday, and we thought it would be nice to send her some balloons. After that we went on a short hike, a really short hike 1.5 miles to Donut Falls , the reviews did not lie this is a perfect hike for children. Next weekend we are thinking about heading out to dog lake. It was really pretty out in big cottonwood we even saw a few moose! After all that we then spent the afternoon shopping for fabric and produce, for dinner we went out for Thai food, and finished our night watching Harry Potter, the very first one, since we have never watched them before.

On Sunday we had a great movie day we watched the second Harry Potter, the Lincoln Lawyer, Confined, and The Burning Bed, we also took Coal on a 2 mile walk to return the movies and pickup a few house hold things. It was a perfect weekend. Cant wait until the next one!

Yesterday I went out to the garden and did some picking and this time they were not weeds (that will be today)
One zucchini and one banana pepper! Our zucchini plant is HUGE I am glad that we only put one in, the squash is not nearly as big, we have 2 tomatoes that are out there and still green I am sure they will be ready soon.

Take a Hike

Yesterday Liz and I decided that we wanted to take a hike up to donut falls which is 3/4 (1.2 total) mile up big cottonwood canyon, however in true Liz and Catrina fashion, we got lost and ended up taking the Lake Blanche trail which is 2.8 miles (5.6 total) it ended up being alot of fun! It was beautiful up there, there was so much water coming down of the mountains and still alot of snow up at the top.

Next weekend we will look for donut falls and see what other trails we come across!

This past 4 days I have been working very hard to get rid of these 7# and I have to say I was fairly successfull... I drank all my water, I walked coal for 20 minutes everyday, then came home ate a banana and went to the treadmill for 30 minutes, and I even I wrote down all my food; here are this weeks numbers...

Friday 123.0

The way I see it, as long as the number is not going up then I am ok. minus 8oz is still a minus! Do I understand it? Nope not at all. It could have to do with all the carrots and hummus I ate yesterday but at least it was a healthy snack! I think Friday will be my official weigh in day, that will give me a few days to mess up and then a few more days to put my self back in check! I weigh myself everyday mainly just because I want to! but Friday will be the one that counts.

so it looks like I am at -.08 for the week!

Last Thursday I weighed in, it was pretty depressing to see 121.3 at the end of the week, that's a Monday number, So I said to myself "self by the time you go on vacation, you will be 116 (or really close) 5# in a month and a half no problem...

Today I weighed in at 123.8! Who was I kidding to think that taking a 20 minute leisurely walk with Coal around the block once a day would help me loose 5lbs? I was turning into one of "those girls" thinking that weight loss would happen without hard work, I have the equipment here, I have the knowledge in my brain I know how to loose the weight, its just a matter of actually putting everything I know into action. I must do the work. I must eat all the right foods. or else this is what my future will look like;

Which really isn't a future its more like the past, (@2008) I have been here before I didn't like it, I was in a deep denial about my weight, and I can feel my self going there again, falling back into old habits, not working out the way I know I should be, not eating breakfast, thinking a little walk will help me maintain...

I have also been here before this is from Oct 2010;And here... July 2010

And so it begins again, I will not be one of them, I will put in the work, starting today... by August I will be down to where I want to be @ 116 very far away from 123.8!

So how will I do it... here is a rough plan;*Walk/jog Coal for 20-30 minutes treadmill/elliptical 30 minutes right after I know I have to put some weight training in there once in awhile so I will try to do that, again we have all the equipment here it is just a matter of doing it.

* No eating in the office, it becomes mindless I am not paying attention to what I am doing.

*WATER nothing else until the 8 glasses are gone, which I will do because I've got some pretty good wine in the fridge... (thanks to Trish and her husband Roger)

*Tracking, it worked before when I wrote down everything that went in my mouth I am sure that even without the points, it will do something for me.

so that's it, I think I should see some improvement soon, I will keep you posted.

I have been working almost all week at getting my garden de-weeded (is that even a word? oh well you know what I mean) I have taken out at least 4 grocery bags full of weeds, cooked dinner with dirt under my nails , had to hose of my Old Navy flip flops a million times and sweat more gardening then working out and yet... it still looks the same! but I do like going out there and watching it grow so I will continue to try to tackle the mess. here are some pictures of the progress our plants have made;

I spent a week in California and then I spent a week getting things semi back in order around here, not that Liz didnt do an amazing job while I was away, of course she did I just needed to readjust to doing the house stuff after spending a week with my grandparents.

So I am back to blogging... for now we all know how that will go right?

We have a busy few weekends coming up I will try to keep the blog up to date.

This weekend we ran errands, went on a 6 mile bike ride, went to the movies and watched Water For Elephants. Ordered The Green Hornet on PPV (free codes) it was good. We got our pictures reprinted and all hung up. It was a very productive weekend.

Today was Haileys graduation she didnt even want us to go, because she said it was no big deal, but of course we went...

and took her flowers, and she cried. So I guess it was a big deal!

We are taking her to Las Vegas on Friday, which means Liz and I are going to be on "date night" for the next 70 days! We get to go wherever we want whenever we want, we dont have to worry about bed times or kid friendly menus. Ask me again in @3 weeks and I will tell you that it is time for her to come home but for now I have big plans for Liz and I...

Pack up the car and go camping whenever, R rated movies no finding a sitter, sushi, sleeping in on the weekend (if the dogs allow it) and tons more... stay tuned!

I should blog daily liz likes to have something to read when she comes home, So here it is for today.... A day in the life of me;

445am liz's alarm goes off gus begins scratching at his cage to be let out

455am liz asks, 'is your alarm set?' I reply "kahsdfionvroi..." more scratching

510am my alarm goes off and still more scratching with a few whines thrown in

@ 516am Liz gets up, lets gus outside, goes and takes a shower.

522am I get make the bed up go to the kitchen cuss at myself because life would be so much easier if I would remember to make the damn coffee the night before and just set the frickin timer!

523-535 make lizs breakfast yell at Damon (the weather guy) because it is May/June and we are FREEZING

535-6 watch the news with liz while she eats breakfast and see her off

6-635 ripped in 30 with Jillian and cuss some more...

635-730 drink a gallon of coffee eat, check facebook, read email, take surveys, check pyp.

730-9 get the kid ready for school some days that involves doing her hair, making breakfast, signing papers and sometimes that means make more coffee and stay out of her way becauseshe is in a MOOD

9am shower

930-1030 clean up the kitchen and some other area...

1030-12 Hang out with Liz while she is on her break

12-1 make her lunch, and see her off

1-345 make my lunch because eating a huge turkey sandwich in from of someone on a slow carb diet is RUDE, ChaCha, take the dogs out 500 times, make phone calls to whoever, check facebook, more surveys more emails

345-415 the kid comes home, we chat she does chores, homework snacks whatever else she needs to do.

415-530 try to make the house look liked I cleaned ALL day long! (some days this works other days... not so much)

530-7 plan and make dinner talk with liz on her way to pure workout, call my mom to catch up on the days events, this is usually the 5 call to or from her

7-8 liz comes home showers, we eat dinner I tell myself 'SET THE COFFEE, wash the dishes it will make the morning so much easier' I dont...

8-whenever watch tv then go to bed and start it all over again!

phew that made me tired just writing it all out. Maybe I should take tomorrow off!

Granted that is not what everyday looks like some days there are jogs thrown in there (I wanted to say runs but that just didn't sound right) sometimes trips to the library or yard work, but that is pretty much the gist of this stay at home mom/wife's day.

And I know that we use to have cute little nicknames but I am over it.... so Hello I am Catrina my wife is Liz! We have a daughter her name is Hailey... all just general info you would find on our facebook pages. and I am sure all of my 8 followers already know all that anyway :)

I have sucsesfully finished 3 straight days of ripped in 30 only 27 more days to go! Today while I was getting a container from the bottom cupboard I thought I was never going to get up! my legs are killing me! my upper arms are sore. But it is what I asked for! if I think I am going to wear short sleeve anything this summer (if it ever gets here) I must stick it out!

I ate very good yesterday (except for the potato salad but I only had a little) and so far today too, granted it is only 9am, baby steps!

Hopefully this rain stops soon we are suppost to have a yard sale this Saturday, and family pictures on Sunday so we are keeping our fingers crossed.

Today I am going to start Jillian Micheal's 30 day shred... I am still debating the meal plan because I dont want to have to make 2 separate dinners, we are all eating a slow carb dinner and I think that will be just fine, I have to get use to eating breakfast because I dont do that every day like I should. Her snacks are pretty easy and are mostly things that we already have in the house. Same goes with lunch. I am going to start today! I know this isnt the same as grumpy's pure workout classes, but it should help me build some muscle. I am still going to run 3 days a week and do this 5-6 days.

I think I will do some before and after pictures, but I will just store them until I am sure that the "afters" look better.

So if you are friends with me on facebook, or in real life, and do not want to go one this 30 day trip with me well then lets not talk until mid June.

More yard work

Could it be 2 post's in one day! Oh yeah! This week I am going to spend at least one hour a day (4-5pm for those that want to come and help) working on this mess...Thats our shed... and our small forest of weeds, you can tell the difference between the weeds and the grass! last year we paid someone to come and clean it out, clearly I did not keep up on the process, and here we are again! This year as I pull I will be adding black weed guard to prevent this from happening again! here is what I did today;
Coal helped remove the big rocks, what a nice guy! We are not too sure what we are going to do once all the black paper is down, but at least we are starting somewhere!

We have a really busy few weeks coming up...

Last weekend was no exception, Saturday Grumpy and I went on a 2.5 mile run, we went fishing didnt catch anything, then we planted our garden I have been wanting to do this since we bought the house I am so excited to see if we can do it!

Sunday we did 6 loads of laundry and went shopping. In the weeks to come, we are going to have a yard sale, take family pictures, maybe head to the lake, the little lady has a math test for her charter school next year and then we will end with a 2 day trip to Vegas.I am still working on my 5k training, it is going well I have moved outside and that is alot harder, when people tell you that you can go from the treadmill to the outside as long as your treadmill is done at a 1.5 incline, dont believe them, they are lying to you! just go outside from day one it will make life easier. Also I ordered Jillian Michael's 30 day shred it is currently on its way, I will let you know how that goes.

Grumpy is still working out at PureWork out. I am trying really hard to not enable her when it comes to junk food, but its just so hard. We are going to do good for the next 2 weeks for sure because we know we have a Vegas road trip coming up and that always means junk food.

As far as our grocery budget is going, I have 48.00 in rebates that I am waiting for. I had 94.00 for this week and have only spent @ 50.00 of that so what ever is left over from this week will roll into next week. Farmers market is coming up soon too! and since we now have our garden in we will save on some things once that starts producing.

Grumpy is in week 5 of her bootcamp training, and she has been working really hard... her only down fall is coffee! Today she turned down cake just so she could have a nice cup of joe tomorrow! she is crazy I mean CAKE really! anyways, yesterday she was measured and lost a total of 9 inches! 9 inches are you kidding me! that is insane! Since she didnt loose any weight one would assume that fat was turned into muscle, if you see us on a once in awhile basis you can definitely tell the difference.

I don't know that I would turn down cake, but whatever she is alot stronger then I am cause that cake would have been calling me, like that doughnut I ate on Monday morning, but thats another story that I will never tell!

I started a no waste week after I had to throw away a WHOLE pineapple, and an unopened 1/2 gallon of Silk soy milk... This challenge will go on until 5/10 (and beyond hopefully)

Yesterday was my first day, I grilled Chicken breast and a few pieces of boneless ribs then I scoured the fridge for other things that I can grill... I threw a zucchini on there too and it was delicious! Today I am going to cut up a watermelon before that has to join the pineapple. Bell peppers are also on the menu very soon!

Saturday was AWESOME! We had to go to an open house at the little ladies school for next year, we headed to Cafe Rio for lunch, and then took a trip to FYE for some new (used) music, The Offspring circa 1997 and some Bon Jovi!
We went to the drive in which I LOVE! we watched Fast 5 and Source Code, Fast 5 was really good if you have seen all 5 you will love it. Source code, hmmm not so great. We took pizza and kfc wings, tons of snacks and or course blankets as soon as Water for Elephants gets there we will be going again (keeping my fingers crossed)

Sunday we were planing on hanging out around the house, doing laundry maybe some yard work. But how fun is that, instead we went shopping! Grumpy got some new work out shoes and clothes, I got a new yoga mat and dd got some new under clothes from Justice (with coupon of course!!)

I am starting to rebate again and this time I WILL NOT STOP! I sent out my first one today 10.00 coming back on all my chicken that I bought last Friday. We need to supplement our "stuff" purchases and what better way to do it, then with rebates.

We have $69.00 in our grocery budget which needs to last till May 15 so we will see how that goes...

Hello Little bird!

We have a nest in the back yard. The little lady spotted it from her bathroom window last weekend we went and checked it out on Sunday, and it was empty. Today I went to look again and the mom was in there her little head poked out of the top and then she flew out. I must have scared her, because she flew into the next tree and started to sqwak like crazy, I took off! I didnt want Grumpy to come home and find me in the back yard being attacked by little red robins! so I went back to the bathroom hoped in the shower and took some pictures...

I am sure that after she sat by making awful noises at me her hubby came and checked out the seen and made sure I was not going to harm her and then sent her home to tend to the nest, I wont be trying that again... at least not while I am home alone!

We had a weird weekend, I am still trying to figure out where it went. Friday Grumpys little sister stayed the night and they watched scary movies, the little lady and I watched girly movies. Saturday was just lazy, Mortal Kombat was on the TV for about 7 hours.

Easter came and it was finally a day for binging! We signed up for the pancake revolution on IHOP's facebook page and got a coupon for a free Rooty Tooty... We got up early and headed over, we ate too much and when we went to pay, the cashier hit the wrong button, the asst. manager came to fix it the screen froze and she gave us are WHOLE meal free! The whole $39.00 Amazing deal!

Water for Elephants and fast and the furious were not playing at the drive in (hopefully this weekend) so on Easter we ended up at the dollar theater we watched Tangled (for the first time) and I am #4 both really good movies!

After we headed over to MIL's for a traditional Easter, ham dinner it was delicious, I am regretting not grabbing more to bring home!

Hello Blog

It has been awhile; I am not sure if I have been too busy to blog, or if I have not been busy enough. instead of starting from 4/5-now I will just give you a few updates.

*We went to a Jazz v Laker game it was alot of fun.
*We had our first "non holiday" family dinner, that was also fun, I am looking forward to planning a few more.
*We have been enjoying binge days
*family dates last weekend we went and watched Rio it was so funny! This weekend we are planning a double feature, Water for Elephants and Fast and the Furious 5.
*Grumpy and the little lady have found some bonding over Mortal Combat on the Xbox it is so funny to watch them play together.
*I am on week 4 of the couch 2 5k program and even got some new running shoes

On a not so "fun" note
*Grumpy had the flu for 5 days and had to take a day off work to recover she had to miss 2 boot camp classes, but is back at it
*My Great Grandma has been in the hospital in CA since Sunday. We considered taking the trip out there but it turned out that she is recovering nicely
*My mom has to go thru a few weeks of radiation therapy for her breast cancer.

Binge!

Saturday was Grumpy's first binge day and it wasn't as bad as we thought it would be. Today I am starting week 2 of the couch 2 5k program, I had to go to the dr and have an EKG done, apparently my body does not like to run, I have been having chest pains since I started and today I just couldnt take it anymore. Everything is fine I just have some inflamation on my chest wall. Grumpy knew this was the case but I still wanted to go see a dr. All is well and I am clear to continue to run! She is starting week 2 of her boot camp, I really should have taken before and after pictures because she has only gone 3 times so far and you can already see a difference in her shape, the scale is not moving but I think she is going down in inches! So that is GOOD! Her shift changed at work so now she will be home at 7pm instead of 830 some days and 10pm others it will be nice to have her here in the evenings to help with the dinner dishes!

BootCamp!

Today was grumpy's first day at bootcamp; her schedule for today looks like this; 635-7 am wake up eat half breakfast (slow carb diet) out the door 7-730am drive 730-830 HELL 830-850 drive home 850-915 walk Coal 1 mile, just a note she totally wanted to do this, I didnt force her to come with me! 915-930 finish breakfast 930-10 get ready for work 10-1030 drive to work and get settled 1030-1230 teach a class 1230-10pm WORK! then tomorrow she has to be up at 730 to go and start it all over again, without teaching a class at work. She is going to have such a long week, well the next 6 weeks are going to be long but it will all be worth it!

The Fitness Bug

Has once again planted itself on our house, we own a treadmill and elliptical and a really fancy weight bench... Last week I signed Grumpy up for pure workout's 6 week transformation program it was a groupon sale. She has been running in the morning and one day last week while life was happening, and I was fed up with it, I went in and ran, and ran and ran..... and then when I was all done I felt so much better the things that bothered me before were not such a big deal. I have since decided to follow in her foot steps and take up running, we are starting to train for a 5K tomorrow morning using the couch 2 5k program. Between that, walking coal every morning and evening , Grumpy going to her 1 hour work out classes (which is pretty much, biggest loser last chance work out 5 days a week) we are really being taken over by fitness over here.

That was the first day that we stepped into this house... I remember walking in and thinking this is the one... here are a few of the actual kitchen pictures from that day;

What a beautiful pink kitchen! (I wish there was a sarcasm font) dont get me wrong I LOVE the lay out of this kitchen. But I hate that pink and the hearts! so here it is today;

We have to remove the glue layer tonight from the bigger wall and then one more wall to go then we get to fix the window sils. We are using a product called Pirahna wall paper destroyer and it all just peels right off... more before and afters to come as we get closer to the after....

Last Tuesday I had my impacted wisdom tooth and one molar removed! So most of last week was spent doing nothing, by Friday our house was starting to look the part! I did make a not so exciting menu, by Sunday the laundry was all done and the house was pretty much back to normal, and besides a little stitch string that keeps gaging me I am too!

We are falling off the weight loss wagon... So starting tomorrow we are going back to the gym (if they are open) we have to rededicate ourselves to healthier snacks. And less cheating on the weekends, this is a major downfall for us. We work our butts off Monday thru Friday get up and go to the gym at some ungodly hour to only eat a whole bag of Doritos on Saturday in front of a movie (with a bag of redvines and M&M's) LOL! Only to start all over with a +2 on the scale come Monday morning.... NO MORE! I reached my goal once and since then have added 5 that won't go away. Grumpy is still working on her goal and my candy/sweet&salty treat enabaling is just not cutting it anymore! I QUIT!

Seth went home yesterday! We made it and had alot of fun! We went to Chuck E cheese and he had a blast! It was different having a little person around and I think it will take a few days to catch up on our sleep!

Now back to the matters at hand; here is the weekly menu,

The little lady has been saving up for a pet mouse for about a month, after she got some money for valentines day from out of state family she finally had enough. (she doesn't get money for everyday chores, just extras) on Saturday we went to a big pet store in Bountiful after talking with the clerk we decided a rat would be a better option for her since she wanted something that she could play with and hold, they had baby hand tamed rats in the store, so I would like to introduce you to... Sweetheart!

Oh but wait... before we took the trip, I the ultimate animal lover decided that I HAD TO HAVE a guinea pig! Grumpy and I sat and read all about them for over 2 hours in the morning while Seth was napping after getting up at 7am! so now I would like to introduce you to.... Cookie! Yeah we are crazy! but she is so CUTE! Our dogs aren't too sure if they like her or not, but they will adjust! We are now guinea pig experts!

Yesterday (day 4) went great, no money spent.

Today is day 5, and what can you do for free/or low cost when you have some time to spare, and have put your self on a restricted budget;

*take the bus downtown to meet your wife
*go and pick up a new sweater for her uniform, which is an XL even though she wears a L, good thing I have the ability to shrink fabric like no other, its kind of my superhero ability!
*go to Anchor Blue and have the security device removed from your shorts, only to find out that they are actually closing their doors on Sunday! not in 5 weeks :(
*go to 711 but 2 coffees and 2 glazed doughnuts.... oops not free used chacha so it doesn't count
*and finally when you have nothing to do on a Friday afternoon... you can go to the Social Security office and get a new card!! They are free! all you have to do is wait 30 minutes!

No spending today! Almost, I did get the 20.00 Amazon gift card for 10.00 that they were offering online but I used my ChaCha account, by Friday I should cash out another 50.00 so that will be awesome, since that account is just for us to do whatever.

We got a coupon from Great Clips for a 6.99 haircut, so now we can get 2 cheap haircuts! one on the 22nd and then another on 2/2!

Today we will not spend! That is awesome I really don't think that we will spend for the next 4 days. Friday we are doing our grocery shopping (different account) Saturday we will be at MIL moving furniture for new windows, and Sunday we try not to leave the house, not for religious purposes, unless you call a lazy day religion which honestly sometimes I would like to, but because we are so busy from 8pm on Friday until @ 10pm on Saturday that we just like the thought of doing nothing on Sunday. So with that said.... we have 32.00 cash for a hair cut and gas we got some last night but we will need more by 1/27, and coffee on Saturday. I think we will be pushing it pretty tight. We still have the ChaCha account, since we are both guides for them I will keep it updated here!

All in all it went pretty well, the only thing we could have done without was the coffee. It was gross anyway!

Hello we have made it to day four! I know it is still early but unless PYP or Tanga post some AMAZING deal we are done for the day with 0.16 spent! And that's because we bought dog food.

Petsmart we had 40.00 budgeted, and of course they were having a sale so we bought some wet food too;

12 cans of wet food, (this is a once a week treat, and will last 12 weeks) 9.60
total with tax 40.16

So in the last 4 days we have actually spent 0.16 from our checking that was not planned for that's pretty good, we will see how days 5-7 go!

I would now like to add, that it is now 9:10pm, I just got my Tanga email and there is nothing we need, and pyp had been prtty good about posting deals for things I am not looking for, I am now turning the computer off, and going to watch Jersey Shore with my wife! (no need to re-read that, that's what I said!)

We have to get the dogs groomed this weekend, and also Anchor Blue is going out of buisness, and they are marking down 30-50% so we are going to make a trip over there. We will see what kind of damage we do there. The plan is to do it with out using any credit!!

New windows!!

Part of our 2010 debt comes from our new windows that we got installed on 12/3 here's a picture of the old vintage ones; Don't mind the wall paper that will hopefully be gone this year, but that is our dinning room window, notice how there are 2 windows! That is vintage double pained!

And here is the new one; so shiny!!

No this is not a TV! It is the front living room window, before it was just 2 pieces of glass that you could not open and yet there was still a breeze, go figure!

And here is the new one from the outside;

I love them, now we can open the windows in the spring! And we are already noticing a difference in temperature around here. we can actually turn the heat off at night and not freeze in our sleep! And the graph that is on the utility bills are about half the size as they were last year! AMAZING. Now if the little lady would shorten her showers!!

Peach Muffins

I still have about 6# of peaches in my fridge that are at the too soft for our liking stage, so I spent the afternoon searching for things I could make and freeze using them, since I do not have canning supplies or jelly making supplies I was limited... I did find this recipe however for peach muffins and before I changed it up a bit each muffin was 8 points! that was just not happening, even on a cheat day!

here is the original recipe it makes 16 (they must be really big!!)
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 1/4 cups vegetable oil
3 eggs, lightly beaten
2 cups white sugar
2 cups peeled, pitted, and chopped peaches

heres my version it makes 24 regular cupcake size muffins 2 points each!
3 cups whole wheat floor
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 1/4 cups all natural no sugar added applesauce
3 eggs, lightly beaten
2 cups granulated splenda
splash of silk soy milk

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Lightly grease 16 muffin cups.
In a large bowl, mix the flour, cinnamon, baking soda, and salt. In a separate bowl, mix the apple sauce, eggs, and sugar. Stir the wet mixture into the flour mixture just until moist. Fold in the peaches. Spoon into the prepared muffin cups.
Bake 10 minutes in the preheated oven, until a toothpick inserted in the center of a muffin comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes before turning out onto wire racks to cool completely.

I am planning on freezing these in bags of 6 that way I can pull them out on Friday and have them for the weekends, once I get my zucchini muffins done I will mix them 3 and 3!

Now that summer is over, I am trying to get things back to normal around here, starting with coupons, cleaning schedules, and blogging! So with that said here is the menu plan for the next 2 weeks!

on the credit card front, we are so close to being debt free we can taste it! we have one that will be gone the end of October, then after that we will only have 1 left! then we are starting to save for our vacations which we already have planned (2011 cali trip, 2012 cruise).

we are working on selling our big tv that we have, if we can sell it for 850.00 we can turn around and buy a smaller better tv for about the same, or atleast with very little out of pocket, when that happens, we get to start decorating our back living room and make it feel more "homey" so im totally excited about that.

This last weekend we climbed Mt. Timpanogos for the first time in about 5 years, it was alot of fun we made it up thru the tour and back down in 2 hours and 53 minutes the average is 3 hours but of course we are now better the average! (at least by a little bit!)

I am going to TRY HARDER THEN EVER to post at least twice a week!

We went fishing on Saturday, it was unsuccessfull, so we decided to stop at the Provo River Falls on the way back home, we ate our Subway on a rock right by the water, it was really nice. After we ate we took a little hike almost to the top it was beautiful up there, I cant wait to go back.

To me! oh yeah today is my 29th Birthday, I do not like when people make a big fuss over me, so I have requested that I get what I want and thats all and my list looks like this....

Grumpy got me this really pretty silver book mark, with a chunk of turquoise and a crystal I love it. It will look so much better in my books then the orange star sticky note that I had in there before!

This weekend we are going to be busy with all my WANTS, and a few Needs that we have to take care of, grocery shopping, dogs groomed.... lots to do, hopefully I can get alot of pics!

We spent our anniversary weekend just hanging out spending some time together, we started out Saturday morning with a beautiful drive up the wasatch national forest, to Mirror Lake to do some fishing. We had some fishing pole problems so we had to purchase a new pole and then went to Jordanelle. We went home with no fish but we did get a little tan (or sunburned) and had fun. That evening we went to Rodizio Grill for dinner, we had never been there before and had a good time, the food was delicious! We also stopped at Rocky Mountain Chocolate factory for some fudge and a carmel apple. That night we grabbed The Bounty Hunter and Remember Me from the red box. Sunday was the perfect day for vegging and thats what we did, until about 7 pm when Grumpy mowed the back lawn, I cleaned the kitchen. All in all it was a great weekend. Cant wait to see what my birthday weekend has in store for us.... (that would be next weekend!)

MY FOOT!

I have written and re written this post about 100 times now, always deleting cause it just wasn't coming out right so lets try this again....

with our 6 year anniversary coming up I am really peeved at the fact that people that can, and do get a marriage that is recognized by every city, county, state, country and planet will just throw it out and act as if it were so disposable. they say that same sex marriage will ruin the sanctity, commitment, and tradition of marriage but really I think the only thing that will ruin it, is the people, (same sex or not) that see it as just a piece of paper. Its not. We dont have the paper, and if you ask either one of us, our family, or friends if we are married they will all say yes. Because it is a mind set, a promise, a whole new way of living. On 7/22/04 I was a completely different person then the one I became on 7/23/04. So yes we are married, and by me saying that I am not hurting your marriage. But by you just throwing yours away, it really is ruining the sanctity of mine.

Easy, Cheap Fun for the minis

I babysit a little boy (15 months) and I was reading in Blog land and found this pom pom bottle I made it this afternoon, it took all of 2 minutes, and it was an instant hit! he played with it for over 20 minutes... just putting the poms in and taking them out over and over! Awesome!

Now I know that its not as green as it once was, but HELLO we live in a desert... So its the theme we were going for you know? no? okay so it died! we are working to make it green again, Im sure come November it will be plush and beautiful once again... (and ready for snow)

So what a coincidence that my last post was about how I was so happy to be going to this concert for my birthday... Today I should be getting ready to go, but NO.... it was cancelled. So Im working, Grumpy's working, but my birthday is not ruined... we are going out for all you can eat sushi! which is almost just as good.

Our anniversary is also just around the corner, we bought ourselves an awesome front yard chair-table set thingy... I will take some pictures in a little bit. I havent been posting too much because we have been REALLY busy. We went to gay pride, Snow White left for ca after that, we spent 4 days in Vegas, and every weekend since, we have been beautifying our yard! we also finally got a fully fenced front yard, so now the dogs and children can run out there and play without me worrying about them running off. I will take some picture in a little while.

On the financial front we are down to 2 credit cards. AMAZING! We did put the patio set on one that we had paid off, but jsut to use the card and keep it going, we are paying it off after the cycle goes threw so no worries there! I updated the ticker and we are 50% done! we are hoping to be finished by December, which I think we will!

Since it is summer I have been busy babysitting, currently I have my regular 2 plus weds and Thursday 2 more and every other week 2 more! so sometimes there are 6 boys all under 6 in my care... on those days I have my SIL come over and help with all the craziness! Today however is a quiet day, its just me and the one baby, I am waiting for him to nap so I can play with my new toy... a swiffer sweeper! I never thought I would be excited about that but I guess things change

Currently I have a serious obsession with all things Jersey! I am sitting on my couch, in my beautiful back living room with a cup of coffee and Grumpy's laptop watching an all day marathon of Jersey Shore! I know I know! I also LOVE Jerseylicious. I think the funniest thing is when they call girls, "creatures" So funny! I am all alone, because Grumpy is also partaking in her own guilty pleasure, her and her mom, are out getting massages.

We did our shopping on friday. but I will post about that later. We also got the windows tinted in the new car, which I need to think of a name for, maybe the dwarf mobile... hmmm.

Hello BEAUTIFUL Thursday, today is payday, which is always a great day around here! When we bought our new car our ER fund took a bit of a hit which we were ok with because if you think about it the way we did, if the truck broke down it would totaly empty our savings and probablly a credit card, or 2 so the hit was well worth it. So now instead of adding all of our extra money to the snow ball we are working on rebuilding our savings. So heres a new Ticker... cause I like them!

Along with the excuse "its too expensive to eat healthy" I really hate the one that goes, "I just dont have the time" of course really there is no excuse its just about lack of motivation, but anyway thats not really what this post is about. Since purchasing our new car we are pinching our pennies a little closer together, Saturday we had a yard sale, and we are trying to sell a few things on the local classifieds, not because we cant afford our car, but because we would like to get our savings back to where it was "pre car" ASAP, so along with that Grumpy has decided to pick up all the over time she can, on Tuesday and Thursday. So last night I knew she was working early so I took out salmon and a small steak (she has to eat 5 mini meals per day for weight training purposes) and heres what the morning schedule looked like;

5am up and getting ready for the gym
520-555 at the gym
600 Grumpy getting ready for work while I hit the kitchen
605 started coffee cooked, steak fajitas, chicken breast with rice, and salmon over veggies and of course a breakfast burrito to go.
625 Grumpy's lunch and breakfast was ready and I was drinking my coffee watching the weather!

So yes you do have time, you just have to find the motivation, in this case there is more then one thing that pushes us #1 growth of the savings. #2 Weight loss. #3 showing others that it can be done!

Here it is, our new 2008 Ford Focus, on Friday we said good-bye to our long time friend, the 2002 Ford Explorer, we had a lot of really good memories with it, trips all over CA, and it even came with us all the way to Utah on our first visit. I am still here! Do not worry! I am not sure why I haven't been blogging, but I just haven't. But do not worry I am back! I have been reading up on craft, saving, and shopping blogs and I am ready to re commit... for the thousandth time. Whats been going on around here, we are within reach of paying down our credit cards, literally we can see the end of this dark ugly tunnel! we have about 2 more weeks then we will be down to only 2 cards! Finally. I am going to start posting meal plans again, cause, well that was fun. Also I am probably going to start posting the shopping lists, because of a conversation that I have been hearing alot lately about how expensive it is to eat healthy... which its not at all, so I will prove it!

Another weekend

We made it threw another busy (too short) weekend, we did so much Saturday we went to the down town library to see the Anne Frank exhibit, then took a walk to the Gateway, then headed over to BIL and SIL housewarming party were we ate way too much good food. We have been trying to start painting our back living room for some time now, and Sunday was the big start day, we have been working on it from 545am-800am and 830pm-945pm everyday since, and we are so close to being done, all we have left is a big wall and a short wall and hang the curtains then we are done for the week, this weekend we are doing the base boards. SO we are moving right along, by the time our 1 year anniversary hits (5/4) we will have another room done! Some time in 2010 you will see a new and improved kitchen no more country pink, I cant wait!

Wow its been awhile and I am not really sure why, I guess I have just been pre-occupied with things that have been going on, I am going to try to post much more! Lets see whats new...

Grumpy Started bodybuilding a few weeks ago so we are spending alot more time at the gym well still 5 days, but it seems like more, since we are there for @1.5 hours every time. I still have 6 lbs to lose until I am going into maintenance mode, so far I have lost 36 lbs and Grumpy 46 lbs so we are still working on weight loss. Now if these last six would fall off as easy as the first 6 then I would be a happy camper!

Snow white was baptized, got her first Communion and confirmed on Easter weekend.

We paid off another credit card so we only have 3 more to go! I have to update all the tickers so Ill do that next.

The roof moving along just great! Today they are putting the shingles on, and if all goes as scheduled they should be 3/4 of the way done by 530 tonight! The weather yesterday set them back just a little bit but today it seems to be working out. I will post some pictures later on.

and look at that ticker over there... February was a good month for eliminating debt. we put @700.00 on the second card... which will be gone in March instead of May like it was scheduled.

I know its been awhile since I have updated about our weight loss but that is still moving right along also, grumpy has lost a total of 39 lbs and I have lost 31 lbs. Tuesday was not a good day for weight loss, with the stresses of the roof and Grumpy and my uncle working late, we had a 830pm KFC splurge! Grumpy got hot wings and I went for my weakness... chili cheese fries... also with this roof we have not gone to the gym at all this week. We are going to go tonight, so that will help a little I am thinking that come Sundays weigh in we will just maintain, which is better then the evil twin, gain! But either way we have still come a long way and a gain of a pound or 2 will not discourage us.

our first house guest

we have lived in our home since May 2009, and next weekend our very first house guest will be coming to stay with us, who is? My uncle why is he coming? to give me a brand new roof! Yes thats right, we need a new roof... its a big long story and I dont want to re-live it so I wont, but what it comes down to is, our inspector (National Property Inspections) said it was a 4-6 year old roof, with 2 layers, he never even got on the ladder to look at it, its really a 13 year or older roof with 3 layers how do we know, because in our back living room the ceiling started to split right down the center a few weeks ago and yes we have insurance, and a warranty, but wanna know what they say "well thats just normal wear and tear on a 13 year old roof" makes sense I guess. Doesn't make us happy but what can you do? Ill tell you, you can suck it up call your (new) favorite Uncle, buy him a plane ticket out from TX, and have him do the work and save some money, and you can also, send all your friends (and stalkers)a warning....

Save your money, be sure that you have an ER fund, roofs are very expensive! If my uncle were not coming out it would be 5000-6500.0! Also if you are buying a home and the inspector doesnt get on the roof, spend the 200-350.00 to get a second opinion!

the little ticker on the side over there, its moving! Why? because we paid of one of our credit cards! The next one is set to be gone in May but hopefully with my extra babysitting and grumpy working overtime, we can knock off at least a month! That would be amazing! Also we are going to Vegas in June to drop of Snow White, so of course we already have money saved up and we are hoping for at least a semi-decent win, that would be great! Keep in mind that I know that gambling is not the way to pay off the bills, but we worked in a casino for years, we met there, we went to Vegas to be married, we even won $25,000 (before we were money smart) so gamblers is just what we are! We already have the money saved up, so nothing will come "out of pocket" so everything is ok! you do not need to report us to Dave Ramsey. thank you for your concern though. (oh and if we do win a large chunk, I already have big plans thats because, I am a dreamer, I can come up with these wonderful scenarios in my head about what if... and then whats... its Grumpys job to put my feet back on the ground....)

Hello there everyone! we did our shopping on Friday night we had a budget of 68.99 which I was a little worried about since we are eating super healthy but we came in about 8.00 under! So I will either go and get more fruits and veggies from Rancho Market tonight, or roll it over for the next 3 weeks which are also at 68.99 each week.

As for weight loss, grumpy and I both lost 2 lbs for a total of 27 lbs lost for me and 31 lbs lost for her! so 58 lbs total thats crazy!

Well here we are the end of the "food month" we have... 38.87 shouldnt be too hard to do. We have SO much chicken in our freezer so meat wont be on the list, but produce does eat up a huge part of our budget I'm sure I can figure it out. Ill post the shopping trip and menu in a few days when I get it all figured out. I should do it tonight.... I might do it...

So in December we decided to go and get pictures taken these are NOT xmas pictures, they are however pictures we took the week before xmas.... after loosing a combined total of about 40 lbs... (we are at 50 now)

I thought I would let you all know that we are doing GREAT I am taking an obvious blog break until the begining of the year, since Snow White is on break and our scedules are a little hectic with Grumpy working a new shift we are going to the gym at 630am almost everyday, I just dont have the time to sit and write at the moment...

I would like to say that we are still working on our weight loss to date Grumpy has lost 22 lbs and 18 inches and I have lost 18 lbs and 14.5 inches. It hasnt been easy, but not too hard, and I imagine it will get a little rough this week, but we will do our best. If we lose track we will jsut get right back on.

If I get a few minutes to spare in I will stop by and post som more! If not I will see you all in 2010! Have a great Christmas!

I know that 100.00 a week seems like alot to spend for 3 people just for food, especially since I love coupons and use to be able to do it for 60.00 or less, but we have changed the way we are eating, we are buying a lot of fresh produce, hardly any boxed side dishes. And instead of generic snack foods we are buying name brand since they are better for us (low calorie, and high fiber) I am using up mostly meat that we already have in our freezer and then we will be switching to ground turkey or chicken, and lean cuts of pork. Thats why you wont see too many meat purchases for the next few weeks, unless I can find a really good sale. I am hoping to get an extra turkey again this year so I can cook it @ March and we can have another week of (cheap) turkey meals we'll see how cheap I can get them for this year. Usually Grumpy gets a voucher for a turkey in November and then a 200.00 grocery gift card in December, but with the economy being what it is we arent going to count on either of those, which sucks, but a bi-weekly pay check is better.
I really need to start on my Thanksgiving menu, I guess I will go start that now, I dont know why I am procrastinating.... oh well

We weighed in yesterday and I am just getting around to posting. So here are the results

Grumpy lost 2 lbs and 1.5 inches, for a total of 12 lbs and 11.5 inches since 10/18!
She reached her first goal and is working on #2 so I will put new tickers in the side.

I lost 3 lbs and 2 inches for a total of 10 lbs and 11 inches since 10/18!
I also reached my first goal and am putting a new ticker for my second one.

Yeah I am sick, I dont know if it "the flu" (you know the one...) or just a virus that i picked up from babysitting. Either way I feel blah! My throat hurts, my head hurts, my right ear is starting to hurt and I just want to hibernate in bed. So I am sick and thats why;

*I am not going to the gym tonight

*I am not really caring that I eat all my points. I dont want to get out of bed and make food if Im not really hungry.

*I have a load of laundry in the washer, one in the dryer and 2 loads on the floor (oops)

*I ate 13 itty bitty tootsie rolls after my lunch (pita with 2oz chicken, mushrooms, bell pepper and onion with melted cheese... I am sure that it was really good, but I couldn't really taste it) it was still only 3 points and I added them into my tracker.

*I will be going to bed at 430 pm and try not to get up unless necessary. (you know a sighting of a Zhu Zhu hamster!)

Weigh in and then some

Our goal is to go to the gym 3 times a week, last week we nailed that we went 5 (well actually 6 but one day we just went and played around in the pool)! And it totally helped out on our weigh in, (which is now on Sunday) I lost 2 more pounds and to more inches, and Grumpy lost 4 ponds and 3 inches!! We had some really good meals this weekend too lemon pancakes, this time with blackberry sauce (still SO good) and then Carne Asada tacos with guacamole (recipe at the end) last night, heres some pictures;

Tacos and black beans, there were 3 but I keep forgetting to take pictures)

And yes it is mostly a whole can of peas, but it is really good and you cant even taste the peas, We didn't tell Snow white until after she was all done eating 3 tacos, and she said that it was good, and she would eat it again! And 1/3 of a cup of this is only 1 point!

This is my new favorite healthy lunch we had it on Halloween and I have been thinking about it ever since! Today I used leftover chicken from dinner a few nights ago, heres the points breakdown;
1 whole pita-2
1/4 cup pizza sauce-1
2 oz chicken-2
2 tablespoons cheese- 1
and a whole lot of veggies-0 (this time I used thin sliced zuchini, onion, bell pepper, and mushrooms)

So 6 points total, and it will keep me full for a while, also later I will eat a fruit, and carrots, and probablly a yogurt before dinner (taco salad). I think next time just to save a point I will just stuff all the toppings into a pita and microwave it for a few seconds...
