Recipe review... Chili Verde

I make there are probably a thousand recipes, if not more, for chili verde out there. I make one that is actually "chili verde" (green chili) the recipe that I made last night (here)was more like a chili Colorado it was really good just something different then what we are use to, I am definitely going to keep the recipe, I should post mine, maybe the next time I make it.
We are probably going to eat the leftovers with eggs and tortillas later on in the week, I think it will be very good with scrambled eggs.
Thanks Trish for the recipe!

Glad you liked it.
When I first got that recipe from my friend I was looking for a recipe that would be like LaFrontera/Puenta/Luna's. Have you been to any of those?
This is sort of close but better IMO.
I'd love to have your recipe though.

Oh, I love chili verde. My favorite Mexican restaurant in the whole world is LaPeunta - it used to be on State Street, but I think it's gone now. They had the best chili verde smothered burrito in the world. I would love your recipe - next time you make it be sure to post.

Stephanie, La Puente is still on State Street. They moved to a new building a little farther south but they're still there.

Is there more than one?

I've only been to the one in Midvale (across from Hillcrest and Laser Quest, next to the Belgian Waffle). I've also been to La Fuente once.

I'm in Chicago, and we go to La Puente every time we are traveling west. I've frozen the smothered sauce so I could take it on the plane.

I'll try the recipe!
